Discover the art of paper weaving that goes beyond fabric creation. With just slips of paper, you can effortlessly master this art form in no time, weaving together colorful patterns. In addition to learning the techniques, we'll explore samples from different cultures and their unique weaving traditions.
Travel Fee: Mileage discounts are available for multiple workshops in the same area. If we can book you on the same day with another venue, within 15 miles from your venue, we will split the fee between the two venues.
Gariné’s background
- BA with a major in Commercial Art from Anna Maria College
- Artist and potter running a pottery studio, Kulina Folk Art (www.KulinaFolkArt.com), with partner Rick Hamelin of Pied Potter Hamelin (www.PiedPotterHamelin.com), in Warren, Massachusetts.
- Massachusetts Cultural Council Keepers of Tradition Award - The keepers of tradition are artists recognized as outstanding practitioners of craft, music, dance, and sacred arts.

Ages: 8+, teens and adults - up to 22 participants max - 60 min. workshop
Ideal for all ages!
Discover the joy of creating stunning patterns and eye-catching geometric designs that are nothing short of breathtaking. Immerse yourself in the rich history of weaving as we explore samples from various cultures around the globe. With an array of vibrant colors to choose from, each participant will have the opportunity to embark on their own paper weaving journey, crafting a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Not only will this project awaken your creativity, but it will also provide a tranquil and calming experience. And the best part? Every participant will leave with a successfully finished project, measuring a magnificent 12” x 12”.
Venue Requirements
- Volunteer/assistant from the venue for the younger participants, not necessary for teen and adult workshops
- U-shaped seating arrangement, with chairs on the outside, and one table for me towards the opening
- I will bring everything else!
Pricing and Other Details
Audience size: 22 participants max - 60 min. program (plus 45 min. set-up & 30 min. clean-up)
Fee for the first 15 participants including all materials____$299 +mileage (see below)
Extra participants up to 22 will be charged $6 each for materials.
Same day/location program: ask for discounted price
** If you would like to register more than 22 participants, there is an additional $50 charge to have a second lead teacher on site. With 2 teachers there is a maximum of 40 students.
Travel Fee: $0.65/mile - Mileage discounts are available for multiple workshops in the same area. The travel fee is capped at $125 for most programs.
Paper Weaving - Introduction to Paper Weaving
Ages: children 4+, up to 22 participants max - 60 min. workshop
This project is ideal for very young children!
Introduce the little one to the colorful world of paper weaving with this specially designed workshop for very young children. Watch as they create surprisingly striking patterns and eye-catching geometric designs using recycled and found papers of various colors and textures. In this interactive class, the participant will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of geometric shapes and colors, crafting their own paper warp and weft. With adult participation required with each child under the age of 8, this is a bonding experience like no other. Each participant will take home their own unique weave, measuring 9” x 12”, showcasing their creativity and newfound weaving skills.
This is not a drop-off class. Adult participation is required with each child under the age of 8.
