Learn How to Make Candles - Workshops at Your Venue

 You’ll be surprised how much you don’t know about candles. My candle making workshops are suitable for teens and adults. The process is fun and successful, allowing the participants to use the candles pretty much right away. Suggestions and ideas from hosting venues are always welcome.

Travel Fee: Mileage discounts are available for multiple workshops in the same area. If we can book you on the same day with another venue, within 15 miles from your venue, we will split the fee between the two venues.

Colorful Candle

Ages: children 5+, teens and adults

up to 22 participants max - 60 min. Workshop

Ideal for young children, no melting required! This workshop is designed for all age groups but is ideal for very young children. There will be no hot wax, no fumes and can easily be assembled by the very young. During this workshop each participant will make their own colorful candle by using a variety of non-toxic, granulated colored wax. We will discuss how primary colors are blended to create secondary colors and how colors complement each other. Candle safety and how to burn a candle will also be discussed. The participants will then use their imagination and layer the colored waxes to create an abstract landscape and I will pour melted soy wax on the layers to stabilize the granules. As soon as the soy wax has cooled the participants may take their creations home. The container is approximately 3” dia. x 3.5” high and the finished candle’s net weight is 4 oz. A caregiver must be hands-on and actively involved with each child under the age of 10 to help with the project.

Volunteer/assistant from the venue

One table for the artist and 3-4 tables for the setup of the wax containers and chairs for participants (optional).

Fee for the first 15 participants including all materials____$315 +mileage (see below)

Extra participants up to 22 will be charged $7 for each participant present and making a project.

Same day/location program: ask for discounted price

** If you would like to register more than 22 participants, there is an additional $50 charge to have a second lead teacher on site. With 2 teachers there is a maximum of 40 students.

Candle Making, Your Choice of Fragrances

Spring Fragrances, Summer Floral, Fall Fragrances, Warm Up Your Winter

Ages: teens and adults - up to 22 participants - 60 min. Workshop

Ideal for the beginner - You’ll be surprised at how much you don’t know about candles! This workshop is an introduction to your choice of fragrance candle making. We will discuss types of candles and which waxes are best suited for which type of candle, wick sizes, heat resistant containers and their sizes, the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils and complete instructions on how to burn a candle. Each participant will make one container candle using soy wax and can choose from a variety of seasonally inspired fragrance oils. Once the wax has cooled undisturbed for approximately 24 hours, the participants will take their candle home and may burn it after a 2 week curing period. Approximate size is: net weight 2.50 oz. (2.5”h x 2.5”w). The wax is hot and fragrance oils can be strongly scented. The registering of children under 18 years old for this event indicates that the parent/guardian acknowledges the possibility of safety concerns while handling hot wax. Program starts promptly, no admission is allowed after instructions are given.

Spooky Candle

Ages: teens and adults  -  up to 20 participants max - 60 min. Workshop

During this workshops we will discuss types of candles and which waxes are best suited for which type of candle, the importance of wick sizes, heat resistant container sizes, the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils and complete instructions on how to burn a candle. Each participant will make one container “spooky candle” using soy wax, color, fragrance oils and a spooky toy. Once the wax has cooled undisturbed for approximately 24 hours, the participants will take their candle home and may burn it after a 2 week curing period. Approximate size is: net weight 7 oz. (approx. 3.75”w x 2.5”h). The wax is hot and fragrance oils can be strongly scented.
